I wanted to go to sleep over an hour ago. But when a good book gets a hold of you...

A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. The description on the back of the book had me intrigued. So I bought it.

And wow am I glad I did. This book was gorgeous. I don't know if I have ever cried more because of the way a book touched me before. The choice of narrator who was once living-impaired really makes you look at the world around you more closely. It makes you appreciate just how soft a sweater is, the delightful smell of fruit... Everything tangible is an almost painfully sublime.

I want to gush, but I don't want to give anything away! I didn't know if it would conclude happily or sadly right until the very end. But I can say that the ending was absolutely perfect. This is the novel I am always on the hunt for, but never seem to find. A novel that is entertaining, makes me want to speed (even faster) home from wherever I am to get back to, and that will in some way be in my head and heart forever.

I had no idea this book was intended for young adults until I read the reviews and such an Amazon, so please don't let that discourage you.

I recommend everyone read this! But especially people who like novels that read like prose, lovers of classic literature, and anyone who has faced rather difficult (or just unconventional) journeys on the way to love or self-discovery.

Yay! =D I need to go to the library as well. I need a new book to read. Stupid book, captivating me into finishing it too quickly! XD

Woot! :D I love Amazon wishlists! Such a handy shopping list, 'cause I know I'll forget things I want to read. And then I'll order something else, and realize it just after it's shipped. D'oh! XP

Ooh, I shall add it to my list of things to read! Although I might be asking you what it's called again a while from now, because I'm taking FOUR literature classes this semester and will be doing nothing but reading. XD

Huzzah! I need people to talk about it with! XD

It's a quick read, so if you only have little snippets of time to read outside of school, it's perfect.

Four classes of Lit?!?!?! That sounds amazing, but stressful at the same time. At least for me, the writer's strike is freeing up more time for reading. I used to read all the time (ooh, five minutes til class starts, I can read more! Huzzah!). And I don't know what happened to that!!! But the addiction to the written word is resurfacing! 'Cause if I have to watch one more minute of reality TV, I think my brain will leak out my ear.

I haven't had coffee, so sorry for being all over the place and rambly. :P

If you want a light, fluffy, but really well-written romantic read, get Marisa de los Santos's book "Love Walked In." I could not put it down, it was so great! The narrator is so cool and funny, and all the characters are just very real and great, and there's a few big twists in there that I didn't see coming! A very good but easy read.

I might do a post like this soon with a few other recs of good new books I've read lately, if you need more! :P

Oooh! I'm going to the bookstore tonight (my excuse is to stalk my friend, but it's really just to spend moolah), and I'll look for it!

And you should totally do a post! I have books I plan to re-read soon (but since I'm a freak, they can only be read certain times of the year), but I really want to read some new stuff.

Do it. Do it. (To be read in the voice of Ben Stiller in Starsky & Hutch)

Just trying to keep all of us occupied until the writer's strike is settled and Stephenie Meyer finishes Breaking Dawn. ^_^

Yay! I was just on the hunt for something lovely to start. I recently crossed off some fantastic novels that had been on my list for a while (Kite Runner, Atonement, Running with Scissors, The Wind Done Gone), and didn't have anything lined up, so was feeling very deflated. Danke.

And of course...We miss you! ;) Are you watching DOOL? We just sent our favorite soap hunk a birthday present (I picked out the Gorillapod, www.joby.com) and he came to chat to thank us for the perfect gift. Squee. He gets sexier every day, I swear.

I've added The Kite Runner to my list. And I'll definitely have to add those others one too! And I really hope you like this one.

I miss you guys too! But I haven't watched in forever. I dunno exactly why. And I had my dish box removed when we switched to a different service, so all my recordings are gone. But I still sail on the EJami ship! Do not doubt that! I'll try and remember to start watching regularly again. But I'm also a chickenshit about all the "Where the hell have you been?!?!?!" stuff that would occur. And there is one user who I really hope isn't there anymore. I'm not sure if I remember her name correctly, but she was a loud-mouth conservative and it took all I had not to e-smack her. :P Not that I hate conservatives, debating is fun. But she was just so....argh! Argh should be an adjective.

Okay, now back to drooling over your icon. XD
