I wanted to go to sleep over an hour ago. But when a good book gets a hold of you...

A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. The description on the back of the book had me intrigued. So I bought it.
And wow am I glad I did. This book was gorgeous. I don't know if I have ever cried more because of the way a book touched me before. The choice of narrator who was once living-impaired really makes you look at the world around you more closely. It makes you appreciate just how soft a sweater is, the delightful smell of fruit... Everything tangible is an almost painfully sublime.
I want to gush, but I don't want to give anything away! I didn't know if it would conclude happily or sadly right until the very end. But I can say that the ending was absolutely perfect. This is the novel I am always on the hunt for, but never seem to find. A novel that is entertaining, makes me want to speed (even faster) home from wherever I am to get back to, and that will in some way be in my head and heart forever.
I had no idea this book was intended for young adults until I read the reviews and such an Amazon, so please don't let that discourage you.
I recommend everyone read this! But especially people who like novels that read like prose, lovers of classic literature, and anyone who has faced rather difficult (or just unconventional) journeys on the way to love or self-discovery.
