He's got his arms around every man's dream & crumbs in his beard from the seafood special
Okay, so merlincerridwen gave me the following questions in this meme:

1. Top 90's shows
2. Top 80's shows
3. Top People on SNL, ever
4. Top stand up comedians
5. Top new shows you're awaiting
6. Top famous people that no one seems to like, but you do

Top 90's Shows (And I am including shows that did stretch into other decades, but their heyday was the 90's)
The X-Files (1993-2002). Why? I like what Kevin Smith once said about it, "It's was like 'Moonlighting' with UFOs." I loved how the chemistry between Mulder and Scully was both buddy buddy, and a little sexually charged. At least that's how it seemed to me. Yeah, Scully did annoy me at times, "I see, but I don't believe", but all in all she was a kick ass chica! This show also has created some inside jokes between Susan and I (Feel the wrath of my sunflower seeds!). Yeah, the show left me confused more often than not. But c'mon, it had David Duchovny in a Speedo. Yes please!

Daria (1997-2001). Why? 'Cause it's awesome! And I WAS Daria. Well, a mix of her and Jane anyway. I even had Daria glasses for a few years. Where are the DVDs, MTV? Come on now. "It's two people, and they're discussing... a herd of beautiful, wild ponies running free across the plain."

Wings (1990-1997). Why? My mom and I have always had a relationship where we're BFF one minute, and then at each other's throats the next. But the half an hour every week when this show was on, we put aside our differences and watched together. I'm sorry, I know a lot of people will hate me for saying this, but I still find Joe/Helen to be much more entertaining than Ross/Rachel.

3rd Rock from the Sun (1996-2001). Why? Ummm... anything that John Lithgow does is brilliant! "Oh my god! ...I'm gorgeous!" And the weird chemistry between Harry and Vicki Dubceck (who was played so awesomely trashy by Jan Hooks) was hilarious! And how Tommy (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) was the awkward teenager was actually older than the rest of the crew... Every character was so zany and the actors pwned them!

Seinfeld (1990-1998). Why? I have never seen a show where everyone knew so much about nothing. And I hate to be trite, but it was so funny... because it was soooo true! Okay, they took the truth and exaggerated the bizareness, but still totally awesome. Sadly I am probably a George. But I feel like I am the characters sometimes. :P

Top 80's Shows (same deal with the 90's).
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987-1996). Why? Somehow when you are 5, having a crush on a cartoon turtle seems okay. It was on Raphael by the way. And Shredder totally scared me. I remember I had a nightmare about him, and when I was that age I believed if I didn't tell my nightmares they would come true. But even I realized it was so bizarre, I kept it to myself. No people with metal helmets have attacked me yet.

The Real Ghostbusters (1986-1991). Why? Actually, I didn't remember it being called "The Real Ghostbusters" until I searched "Ghostbusters" on IMDb and freaked for a minute. "Where's my cartoon?!?!?!?!" I wanted Slimer as a pet. As a girl obsessed with the paranormal and Saturday morning cartoons, this was a dream come true. I am still jealous that Bonnie had the lunch box. I had to store my dick drawings in my Flinstones one instead.

The Golden Girls (1985-1992). Why? Even when I was kid, I thought this show was hi-larious. And it's still a favorite. It definitely helped me deal with having early classes my first two years of college. And being a senior citizen looks like fun! I can't wait to be able to walk around with a purse covered in shells, a la my girl Sophia.

Mystery Science Theatre 3000 (1988-1999). Why? It changed the way I watched movies, that's for damn sure. Whenever I think of a riff, I always laugh (or at least smile), no matter what situation I'm in or how depressed I feel. "Take this gun. Use it to kill Archduke Ferdinand!" Okay, I do associate more with the 90's, but I ran out of room!

Kids in the Hall (1988-1994). Why? Where do I begin?! The Head-Crusher, how many people do that? Admit it, you do! Sketches range from the 'funny because it's true' (ie: the young stoner Bauer), to the ridiculously silly (ie: Francesca Fiore and Bruno Puntz-Jones), to the utterly bizarre (ie: Love and Sausages). I still have a crush on Bruce McCulloch).

3. Top People on SNL, ever
Rachel Dratch Why? She is in some of my favorite sketches from that show. The Boston Teens (her boyfriend played by Jimmy Fallon. "You are so retarded!" "You are!" *making out furiously". Debby Downer, can't watch without laughing.

Christopher Walken Why? Technically not a cast member, but he's hosted so many times it counts. He can sing, he can dance, he can creep you out!

Tina Fey Why? First female head writer! She made Weekend Update a must tune in feature.

Will Ferrell Why? Maybe not a sophisticated pick. But when he does something, you laugh. Unless you have a huge stick up your ass.

Steve Martin Why? King Tut. 'Nuff said.

Top stand up comedians
Bill Maher Why? Yeah he has an affinity for pot and an inclination towards whorish women...but the man speaks the truth!

Mike Birbiglia Why? He's just so adorable! I wanna date him! I'm always happy when his secret public journal shows up in my inbox.

Demetri Martin Why? Ummm, he's hot. And hilarious. Gotta love his artistic abilities! He draws and plays the guitar and harmonica!

Sarah Silverman Why? I dig offensive comedy. Sue me! I also like how her comedy can be really biting, but when she does interviews and such, she is such a sweetheart!

Eddie Izzard Why? Eddie. Is. GOD! He does history and Star Wars jokes! That speaks to the dork in me.

Top new shows you're awaiting
The Sarah Connor Chronicles Why? Okay, I think the idea for a TV show based on the Terminator film franchise (which I do like) is bad. But it has Summer Glau in it, so I am willing to give it a shot. If you've worked with Joss, that is automatic win in my book.

Viva Laughin Why? It's based on BBC's Viva Blackpool, which I have only seen clips of but still love. Musicals rule! Sadly Lloyd Owen, who plays the main character, is not as cute as David Tennant.

Moonlight Why? A vampire PI? Sign me up!

Chuck Why? It's about a guy who's a dork by day, and has a secret government objective by night! I looooved Zachary Levi back when he was on Less Than Perfect.

Pushing Daisies Why? It looks like a surreal story mixed a feast for the eyes. Sorry, I really like cinematography. I think it really lends to a film or TV show in an unspoken way. Apparently people have already seen the pilot. I must find it!

Top famous people that no one seems to like, but you do
Ashlee Simpson Why? Okay, I do make fun of her all the time. I do think lipsynching (when you're not even dancing either) is lame. But she was young. We all make mistakes. I think her getting a nose job was actually very brave. She does have some catchy tunes. And she and Pete Wentz are adorable together.

Nicole Richie Why? Again, we all make mistakes. I do think driving while in any way intoxicated is a bad idea. But when she went to jail, you didn't see her acting like a whiny, cry-baby bitch about it. She sucked it up and went in. And I do think she has learned a few lessons from her past.

Simon Cowell Why? Being a jerk, hot. Having an accent, smokin'!!!!!!

Christina Aguilera Why? Okay, not many people hate anymore. But pre-comeback, I always thought she was amazingly talented (unlike so many of her peers), and if she wanted to act like a whore, that was her own business. I'm happy the last album went so well. And she put Benji in the video for "Candyman"!

Oooh! Check out Pink Raygun Top 100 Fictional Femmes of Genre Film and Television, 2007 Edition!
A great list! #16 is probably my fave.

If anyone's interested, I uploaded 'U + UR Hand' by Pink for miss_bushido. So if you
didn't already have and want it, there ya go. :) It should be up until tomorrow morning my time.

Yes! Bill Maher. I always see people hate on him, but he's never done ANYTHING to piss me off :D Also, at Blockbuster, they have those "free preview of pilots" episodes and let me tell you, Chuck is so worth it! I can see why NBC picked it up. I've been trying to remember the name Mike Birbiglia. I saw him on this show that comes on really late called Comics Unleashed and I thought he was cute too, but I could never remember his name. So, thank you!

BTW; I had a dream about you last night. Also, I'm posting this meme in my LJ so you've got to give me things too. Heehe <3

I took my mom to see Bill Maher live last year. He was amazing!

I've been watching Weeds online (it is excellent by the way), so I will hopefully be able to find those pilots! Everyone on IMDb says Chuck is great as well. Same with Pushing Daisies.

Mike is... Man, I just want to hug him! Sadly he has a girlfriend. *le sigh* XP

Oooh! Hopefully a good dream! :D
merlincerridwen on September 14th, 2007 12:00 am (UTC)
I just posted about the dream and meme.. If you can make sense out if it, that's amazing *lol*.

Where have you been watching Weeds? I might go to the library tomorrow so if you could link me ^^;

I was actually talking about The Sarah Connor Chronicles and a Terminator fan of mine was like, "who would actually watch that?" and I was all like, "oh, I'm pretty sure any Browncoat would give it a try" since Summer Glau's character is one of the main three, apparently. Thanks for totally proving me right. XD

Also, Adam Baldwin is totally in Chuck, apparently, but I think he has a lesser role. But he's in it! :]
Allee: malpsychoticlady_lyca on September 14th, 2007 02:18 am (UTC)
Hey, we Browncoats are loyal to those we love! My friend Mary will be another Browncoat to watch. Plus she has a thing for Summer. And a kid who was on Heroes is going to be on there; so double trouble for me. XD

He is?!?! Holy crap! That is awesome news! I am going to look for that pilot online ASAP!
Speed: brutalsnarkylightning on September 14th, 2007 03:55 am (UTC)
Not just any kid! Zach! Mr. Man of Mysterious Sexuality! And by mysterious we mean gay except not because that would be BAD for publicity. And his future career. But apparently playing the not-really-gay-but-still-gay-kid-on-Heroes didn't keep him from being cast in TSCC. XD

I was reading up on all the new fall pilots and they had this section on "DOES HE/SHE LOOK FAMILIAR? THIS IS THEIR PREVIOUS WORK!" and I saw his picture and was all "?!?!?" :]
Allee: icecreamZQlady_lyca on September 14th, 2007 05:08 am (UTC)
He is SOOO gay! And I like him that way! :P

He was also on House! As that preacher kid with an STD! And then so was Ted, as Calvin (the guy who had AIDs). And so many Buffy alumns have been on too... I love House. =D

Eddie Izzard!! *squee* I totally just watched all those videos...I've only seen his "Dressed to Kill" performance...I need to get the others ones..somehow
Allee: pierrefleurlady_lyca on September 14th, 2007 02:20 am (UTC)
Isn't Eddie just AMAZING?!?!? I got to see him live a few years ago. It was so great! And "Dressed to Kill" is probably my fave. All his other specials are on DVD, so if all else fails, you can rent 'em. But there are ton of clips from a lot of his work on YouTube. I would also try alluc.org, see if they have any.
lambobrat on September 15th, 2007 06:24 pm (UTC)
he's beyond amazing...yeah, I'll definitely check youtube. And lucky you, I'd loooove to see him live!!

oh oh, and something else...you remember that emo hp parody you posted a long time ago? You wouldn't have to have a link to it would you? Because I saved it, and now it's gone for some reason...

Okay. I just done reading that list of top females and fangirling the characters. Totally didn't expect Death to show up, let alone be number one. I frickin' love her. But I was happy to see the ass-kickin' variety. :]
Allee: kayleeumbrellalady_lyca on September 14th, 2007 02:26 am (UTC)
I didn't realize until JUST now that she was created by Neil Gaiman. That man, he is a genius. I really want to go comic collecting now.

I was so happy to see The Women of Firefly on the list! And in the top 5! =D

I'm in the middle of his Sandman series now and it's awe-inspiring. I have never actually managed to finish one of his novels, simply because, for me, they're so insanely weird that I, like, can't picture it in my head, but I'm currently watching his Neverwhere mini series which is fantastic and I loved the Stardust movie and am really, really diggin' the Sandman comics. Plus, I have this like, raging fangirl crush on Death. And Desire. But mostly Death.

I adored Daria! I wish they would show it here again!

I used to like Ashlee Simpson a lot, now I think "She's okay..." ...
Allee: umbrellaautumnlady_lyca on September 14th, 2007 05:11 pm (UTC)
I keep trying to download Daria from LimeWire. But apparently there is a porn star named Daria, so that's all that comes up. Now, I love porn probably more than the average girl...but only when I want porn specifically. :P

I don't love Ashlee, but I don't hate her either. ^_^
