Writer's Block: Most inspiring teacher
Who is the most inspiring teacher you ever had and why? How often do you think about what they taught you? How has it changed your life?

I don't know if a teacher ever really inspired me. But my favorite teacher, or at least the one I remember most fondly, is Mr. Clark. He was my Chemistry teacher and "advisor" senior year. With a handful of exceptions, teachers really didn't like me, or were incredibly indifferent. He was one of the ones who didn't seem to mind having me in class, and actually cared about me. And it wasn't just academically, he also seemed to care about me as a person. A lot of teachers I encountered didn't really care how I was doing outside the classroom, he did. Maybe it just felt even nicer because chemistry was really not my subject, and I was at quite an apathetic moment in my academic career.

He also was head of the Environmental Club, which my friend Amanda was an active member in. Amanda did care about her academic career, and she always remarked how helpful he was and how accesible he was before and after class for help. While I never took advantage of that (remember, I said I was apathetic, annoyingly angst-y is more like it), I always thought that was really cool.

And he taught me how to play chess during advisory period. :) He also never got mad when Amanda and I used advisory to make Starbucks runs. :P

P.S. Just FYI, advisory was what we had instead of home room during my senior year. It was before third period. Our "advisor" was just the teacher we happened to have during that period. Like, I also had a guidance counselor. Two actually, and they were both pretty fucking useless. :P

Rambling entry is rambling.
