But I've seen beauty before, obscured by a storm that passes with some patience and guts
This week's fannish5:

This list could be entirely comprised of musicals, so I've decided to exclude them. If only to save myself the headache of trying to decide on which five. :P

Just FYI, some songs I have included on fanmixes I have made or have downloaded from different places/people. So if when you open one of thse songs in iTunes, the track number and album title may be different. If you are kind of anal about that, I know I am, Amazon should have the correct track number. If it doesn't, or if there are any other questions, I will try to answer. :)

In no particular order...

Some of the 1980's finest, lesser known good songs mixed with the original score from the movie. Good for when you want to remember the movie, or act all vampire-y while not taking yourself too seriously.

Just a collection of some of the best songs that just make you feel. Perfect for early evenings and night time, especially in autumn; and finding the magic in everyday things.

JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER! Join the army! Listen to when you want to have a good time, or just want an extra oomph of girl power.

Adam Carolla once said about this movie, and I am paraphrasing here, "Isn't a little sad that when it is better than the actual music it's lampooning?" And it's true. A lot of these faux retro songs are a lot more awesome than what actually came out of the eighties. *Note: This blogger is not responsible for any injuries sustained while performing the "Pop" dance move.

Again, more 1980's lesser known goodness. Why was this decade better than any other at vampire movies and their soundtracks? If you are interested in this movie or album, you may also want to read Cracked's 8 Things Modern Vampires Could Learn From 'The Lost Boys'

I'm not really into club music, which is what a majority of the songs technically are; but not so much today, but what was played when the movie took place. But I really love this album. Sadly, I only have volume one. Listen when you want feel like you're on heroin but too much of a pussy to actually do it; or when you want to relive your earlier days of young adulthood and dressing up as Ziggy Stardust (and not just for Halloween).

*dodges things thrown by people with better taste than I* Well, I had to include this soundtrack because I bought it twice. Yes, I either listened to it too much or am just really damn hard on a CD (we'll go with the latter because it is less pathetic) that I went out and purchased another copy. Not download it illegally or anything, spent more money. Keep in mind I had no job as a teenager. Even if you hate this movie, you should check this soundtrack out. At least, if you like rock music you should. Has a lot of great guest vocals. Also listen if you were/are a pretentious vampire wannabe twat like I was/am. Although I do know some people who abhor the movie, but adore the soundtrack.

Whimsical without being maudlin. It really captures the whole essence of the film in music form. I bought this at the Virgin Megastore while on vacay in Florida. While my parents were busy going on Space Mountain, I would be waiting on a bench with this playing on my portable CD player over and over.

With very few exceptions, I normally cannot stand country music. This is one of those exceptions. This really has got it all. Upbeat songs that just make you smile, songs that make you feel hopeful, beautiful love songs... I really think a lot of different music fans will like this. Listen to it especially when you are having a bad day. P.S. I looked everywhere for "Only You (and You Alone)" by Lonestar and no one has it! *gar* I have the CD (with that song) at my parents' house and I am probably going up there tonight. So if you must have that song, I'll be sure to upload it ASAP.

And here is a clip from what I'll consider an Honorable Mention from today's fannish5. It's from Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy. It kinda makes me wish Bruce McCulloch would take a break from acting and directing to try being a rock star. XD

Ah, I love Josie and the Pussycats, Music & Lyrics and Brain Candy!

Also, you win for using Jail Weddings lyrics in the subject line.

Ummm...I'm kind of obsessed with this song right now. :P It's just one of those times when you hear a song, and a scene just comes right into your head with vivid detail. I think that's a good thing, so thanks for introducing me to it. ^_^

I need to find an icon of new wave Hugh Grant. LOL!

Well, I will always associate it with Amber and Luigi, but, y'know, that's just me.

I want to find where they filmed (I know it's somewhere up in the San Juans), buy that house, and listen to the soundtrack all day. :P

P.S. Tee hee at your icon!
