Okay, this doesn't leave this LJ post... I saw New Moon today. *cringes in preparation for all your groans* But Laura invited me to go with her, her mom, and little sister. She said there is no way she would've been able to make it through without me. It's nice to be needed. :P

There's probably more I wanted to say. I mean, I was composing this LJ entry as I watched the film. :P But I can't for the life of me think of anything.

Afterwards, Laura's mom took us to dinner at Red Robin, which was very nice. Talking about the movie though... Laura's mom really likes the books, her little sister has never read them, and Laura hates a lot of it (excluding The Abs). I look forward to seeing it with John. He admits it's his guilty pleasure, calls it his vampire porn. But he knows about all the weird shit I'm attracted to and his eyes won't glaze over when I gush about them. :P He also understands that I have to dissect every little detail in every movie. And then again with my parents. My mom didn't like the books, but wants to see the movie... I don't get my mom most of the time. But she won't mind me being critical of it. My dad liked the first movie. WTF?

I really enjoyed the soundtrack. I may upload it, if any of y'all are interested. H E R E is more info, in case you want to think about it. :)

Something else OT; I don't have to bring food tomorrow! Yay! Jeez, I am such a lazy beeyotch. But my parents are coming back from Hawaii. *thumbs down* I like being by myself.

Earlier, when I said nothing was to leave this LJ post? I was dead serious. I will be massacred by just about anyone IRL if this information was to be released. D: Except for you Susan, I appreciate that you never judge me. ^_^

Now, I am going to go enjoy the Rifftrax for Star Trek XI!!!! =D And maybe some coconut cake.

Boo. Tom went to corporate and didn't pick up the paychecks, so I won't see mine until Monday at the earliest. Looks like I will be dipping further into the emergency cash my parents left. I mean, I think it a check week... I've been so out of it lately. @_@

ETA: Nevermind!!!! Tom did bring the checks. He just hid them very well, since we're not officially supposed to get them until tomorrow. XD Mood changed from "disappointed" to "pleased".

Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman. Yeah, I saw the movie when it came out, and got obsessed. And like a week later, walking through Fred Meyer and see the book. I devoured it in two days (hey, it was back when I went to bed at a reasonable hour), and then read it again. I have read this book at least once a year since 8th grade. I'm surprised I don't know it by heart. This book is now why I check Amazon once a month to see if Alice Hoffman has anything new coming out, I am so enamored with her writing. But this will always be my favorite.

I may have to stop and get some thai on the way home. I am starving! And I've had a craving for pad thai since last week. Driving back from corporate, Vicki picked up some pad thai for her and Kyle. OMG, sitting in the car with that delectable scent was driving me crazy. ^_^ There's a little place in Totem Lake that I like. I've never been in, just had someone bring me some, and I've only ever had the yellow curry. But daaaamn, that curry was a-fucking-mazing.

I must issue an apologize to everyone who has been subjected to my humming of "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus. I blame fandom and miss_bushido (and FYI, if the fanmix for the RP ever gets done, I may have to put this on there, if only as a bonus track) for my crack addled brain. ;D

I recommend A Collision of Habits by reddwarfer. It's a crossover fic, Stargate Atlantis and Stephen King's The Stand. Currently, there are three chapters, Anywhere But Vegas, Just A Few Detours, and City Limits. There is supposed to be one more installment, but the last chapter posted ends well enough that you won't go crazy waiting for more. But if you do read, please review. 'Cause I do want more. XD

Day 03 → Your favourite television programme
It's actually a tie for the top spot, between Seinfeld and Mystery Science Theatre 3000. :P

I truly feel Seinfeld is art. Now, if you don't find it funny, that's fine. But it kinda pisses me off when people write it off as stupid; especially since so many of those people have seen one episode AT MOST. Believe me, John got this tirade when he said that. I think one reason why art is important is because it can hold a mirror up to society. I've heard people say Seinfeld was dumb because it was about nothing and had some truly selfish characters who had little or no redeeming qualities. While I recognize that both those things are true, for me that is kind of the point of the show. By exaggerating the self-interest of these people, they showed how we as people are more motivated by self-centered reasons than we may like to admit. Using the vehicle of the banalities of everyday life made it more accessible to the general public, and a lot more funny. Now, I don't know if any of these things were the intention of the creators; but that is what the show means to me. :P

Nerdy tid bit from my real life. One of the people I play D&D with, has an elf character with like a million perception. And now that he has finally seen Lie to Me, when we're interrogating someone (which is happening a lot more often on our adventure) we refer to it as the "Cal Lightman check". Or at least, that's what I refer to it as and now everyone gets it. XD

Yay! Star Trek comes out today! So, that's what I'll be doing tonight. XD And probably re-watch Lie To Me. Loker looked waaaaay too hot in that geeky sweater. I wanted to tear it right off. What? XD First it was Colin Firth's plaid swimming shorts in Mamma Mia!, and now this... Fandom is seriously giving me some weird ass fetishes.

Also, Lady GaGa was on Gossip Girl last night. And was amazing!!!! And seeing as Dan/Blair is my not so secret ship, I was pleased with all their interaction. Oh hell, I just want everyone to hook up with everyone. :P

Off topic, but watching the game... DARRYL TAPP IS A DEFENSIVE GOD!!!!! He's definitely my favorite Seahawk. He always seems to get in there and get shit done.

Also, I had my MRI today, and have another appointment with the hot doc next week. Anyway, the ladies working at the MRI place were so adorable. Their cute snarkiness made up for the fact that they didn't give me music to listen to, like the place I went to a few years ago. And I had to quote MST3K: The Movie in my head while I was in there. "Hey, we're in the tubes back here!" "Mine smells like bacon? Anyone else? Bacon?"

I'd already kinda wanted to start watching it, and with the Seinfeld "reunion" happening this season, I had to start. This song was played in a recent episode. It's a cute, little oldies song. So sleepy. I stayed up until 3 a.m. last night finishing The Story Sisters by Alice Hoffman. I don't think a book by her has broken my heart so much since Blackbird House. Anyway, I need to stay up! Dr. Drew is on Conan!!!!

Subject: Death/My funeral/becoming one with nature/second childhood

Notes: Okay, this may be totally morbid, but these are the songs I would like played at my funeral, or just remind me of passing away in general. I don't know if this mix is a result of me being morose (like, I totally do that thing mentioned in When Harry Met Sally, reading the last page of a book first), or if it's my having to plan everything. I can't be the only one who thinks about this kind of thing. I know that I want to be cremated. And if I am rich by the time I die, I would like my ashes shot into deep space (seriously, that shit is fucking expensive).

But parts of this mix can be applied to some less dark themes. Some songs can be heard as going through a second childhood, rather playful and free. I don't know. I sometimes equate death with the soul being free, and envision a soul running and frolicking. Some songs can be listened to when trying to get closer to nature, or when you ponder how you are part of something much larger than yourself. That everyone and all our lives are just tiny microcosms in this humongous universe. I guess that just another thing that I think could happen when we die, we become one with The Force, are pure energy.

I guess all these different elements are included in this mix, because when I think about dying I ultimately think about life. And this bright, vibrant montage of images and scenes flash in my mind like an intense kaleidoscope.
